Nature's Pencil: Gallery: Post Box
Walking down the narrowest lane out of the Welsh village of Five Roads on a summer evening, there were gardens in full bloom on one side, and fields leading to woods on the other. This postbox would probably not have been your first choice of subject for a definitive record of the place. But once again a limited range of colours make an attractive composition possible. The red, black and brown work well together, and the strong side lighting adds drama, and shows up the texture of wood, stone, and metal.
