This is a grab shot, made possible only by the
wide range of the zoom (35-135), and the speed of the AF, and the accuracy of
the metering on the Canon EOS 10 that I was using at the time. I was lucky that
there are no terrible colour clashes, and that the craftsman's natural pose and
the lines of the scaffold work well together.
The church is just off Deansgate in
Manchester, England, and this picture was taken just a few months before the
whole area was devastated by an IRA bomb
